Young designers of Brussels-based Studio Venlet are taking on the VIP & Press Zone. Surprisingly, Superman’s legendary ‘fortress of solitude’ on the planet Krypton was their inspiration: “A few years ago it was discovered that the cave full of enormous ice crystals we know so well from the Superman films, turned out to be real: it was discovered somewhere in Mexico. This remarkable fact and this strange legendary cave inspired us for the design of DECOoh!’s VIP & Press Zone”, explains designer Robbie. Not that the Zone will be cold as ice or sparkle like a crystal. “Its atmosphere particularly inspired us: extremely strange, but oh so beautiful. We also started using a completely other kind of material: cardboard tubes and cylinders, and frayed sheets of cardboard.” For this, Studio Venlet cooperated with a specialised cardboard recycling company. The result of their inspiring, daring and innovative cooperation will be displayed for the very first time at DECOoh!
